Especially in the past few years, I’ve begun to pursue design outside the context of engineering – design primarily for form and aesthetics (although certainly not neglecting function). I’ve focused primarily on smaller, simple projects, including jewelry, furniture and housewares. I’m especially interested in the ideas of craftsmanship and heirloom design – designing objects to last for generations, and then putting the care into their manufacture to ensure that they do.

Because of my background in the machine shop, I’ve worked primarily with metal, mostly through machine tools. Recently, I’ve also begun to explore wood – I enjoy the flexibility and forgiveness of wood, and the warmth and variety of character that it can take on.
