Speaker: Jared Meyer

Description: The Swarthmore Conservative Society is proud to be bringing Jared Meyer, a Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, to campus on September 22nd to discuss how regulations affect the tech industry, but especially Uber and the sharing economy. Meyer’s writing regularly appears in publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Review, Forbes, and New York Post. He also has appeared on the BBC World Service, Al Jazeera, Fox News, and NPR. His first book Disinherited: How Washington is Betraying America’s Youth was published last fall with co-author (and Swat Alum) Diana Furchtgott-Roth. He also recently released a new report titled Uber-Positive: The Ride-Share Firm Expands Transportation Options in Low- Income New York.


Speaker: Alison Grillo

Description: An Awkward Pause will be a comedy show featuring popular LGBT comic Alison Grillo, whose comedy will reach out to students of all kinds and touch on multiple issues in popular culture(such as dating, therapy, and gender) as well as humorous stories about college life.
